Church minister shames congregation by dressing as a bum

Churchgoers were left shamed after they ignored a bum who turned out to be their minister in disguise. The Rev Derek Rigby sat in the porch to his church as the congregation arrived for a Sunday service, hidden beneath a wig and scruffy clothes.

He then settled on a pew in the church surrounded by syringes and began drinking from a can of beer. But none of the worshipers at the Trinity Methodist Church in Prestatyn, North Wales, spoke to him or offered him any help.

The 51-year-old then took off his wig to reveal his true identity, before delivering a sermon based on the failure of the disciples to recognize Jesus Christ on the road to Emmaus after his resurrection. He said: "I told the congregation they are a stingy lot. Everyone was amazed and later complimented me on my acting skill, though some said I had made them feel terrible."
"Everyone was amazed and later complimented me on my acting skill, though some said I had made them feel terrible."
Describing how he avoided detection, he said: "I didn't shave for three days, made my hands and face dirty and drew on tattoos.
"I bought some scruffy clothes at a charity shop, ripped the trousers, and put on a straggly wig and thick, broken glasses. "I then splashed lager over my clothes so I was stinking.
"I looked in the mirror before the service and I didn't recognized myself."
Churchgoer John Sproston was one of the first to arrive at the service to see the "bum" on the doorstep.
He said: "We were all aghast when he took off his wig because he was very convincing."

Dutch cat adopts abandoned red pandas

A Dutch tabby cat has adopted a red panda cub, which was abandoned by its mother at a zoo in the Netherlands. The adult panda, Gladys, rejected two cubs after they were born on 30 June. The Artis zoo in Amsterdam initially kept them both on an incubator.
But the zookeeper's cat had just given birth to four kittens, and allowed the pandas to join the litter. One of the cubs died last week. The red panda is an endangered species that lives in Himalayan regions in China, Bhutan, Nepal, India, and Burma.

Groundskeeper finds face in log

MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- A sawed-off tree limb at a Maryville cemetery turned out to have a mysterious image.
The short log has a cut end bearing an uncanny resemblance to a human face.
Ernest Ward, a groundskeeper at Magnolia Cemetery, said it was found Monday as he and co-workers cleaned up debris from a weekend storm. He said a former worker at the cemetery believes the face is a spirit. "Who he is, I don't know," Ward said.

When you go to jail you shouldn’t get feed quality foods
Inmates at one central Florida jail won't be eating quite as well thanks to budget cuts. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced Wednesday that inmates will no longer get chocolate milk, coffee and juice as he strives to cut $200,000 from the jail budget.
Guests of the county will also get frozen egg patties for breakfast instead of fresh eggs and just one piece of bread instead of two. Peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches are also off the menu and fresh milk will give way to the powdered stuff. The jail has already substituted crackers for cornbread. Jail officials made the changes with the help of a dietitian. Judd says if inmates want fancier fare, "they need to behave, quit violating the law, and stay out of the county jail."

How To Give Your Cat A Pill

Grasp cat firmly in your arms.
Cradle its head on your elbow, just as if you were giving a baby a bottle.
Coo confidently, "That's a nice kitty."
Drop pill into its mouth.
Retrieve cat from top of lamp and pill from under sofa.
Follow same procedure as in #1, but hold cat's front paws down with left handand back paws with elbow of right arm.
Poke pill into its mouth with right forefinger.
Retrieve cat from under bed.
Get new pill from bottle.
(Resist impulse to get new cat.)
Again, proceed as in #1, except when you have cat firmly cradledin bottle-feeding position, sit down on edge of chair, fold your torso over cat, bring your right hand over your left elbow, open cat's mouth by lifting the upper jawand pop the pill in -- quickly.
Since your head is down by your knees, you won't be able to see what you're doing. That's just as well.
Leave cat hanging on drapes. Leave pill in your hair.
If you're a woman, have a good cry.
If you're a man, have a good cry.
Now, pull yourself together.
Who's the boss here anyway?
Retrieve cat and pill.
Assuming position #1, say sternly, "Who's the boss here anyway?"
Open cat's mouth, take pill and . . . Ooooops!
This isn't working, is it?
Collapse and think. Aha!
Those flashing claws are causing the chaos.
Crawl to linen closet.
Drag back large bath towel.
Spread towel on floor.
Retrieve cat from kitchen counter and pill from potted plant.
Spread cat on towel near one endwith its head over long edge.
Flatten cat's front and back legs over its stomach.(Resist impulse to flatten cat.)
Roll cat in towel. Work fast --time and tabbies wait for no man or woman.
Resume position #1.
Rotate your left hand to cat's head.
Press its mouth at the jaw hinges like opening the petals of a snapdragon.
Drop pill into cat's mouth and poke gently.Voila! It's done.
Vacuum up loose fur (cat's).
Apply bandages to wounds (yours).
Take two aspirins and lie down.
