What is a grandparent?

(Taken from papers written by a class of 8-year-olds)
Grandparents are a lady and a man who have no little children of their own.
They like other people’s.
A grandfather is a man & a grandmother is a lady!
Grandparents don’t have to do anything except be there when we come to see them.
They are so old they shouldn’t play hard or run.
It is good if they drive us to the shops and give us money.
When they take us for walks, they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.
They show us and talk to us about the colors of the flowers and also why we shouldn’t step on ‘cracks.’
They don’t say, ‘Hurry up.’
Usually grandmothers are fat but not too fat to tie your shoes.
They wear glasses and funny underwear.
They can take their teeth and gums out.
Grandparents don’t have to be smart.
They have to answer questions like ‘Why isn’t God married?’ and ‘How come dogs chase cats?’
When they read to us, they don’t skip.
They don’t mind if we ask for the same story over again.
Everybody should try to have a grandmother, especially if you don’t have television because they are the only grownups who like to spend time with us.
They know we should have snack time before bed time and they say prayers with us and kiss us even when we’ve acted bad.
.
A 6 YEAR OLD WAS ASKED WHERE HIS GRANDMA LIVED. "OH," HE SAID, " SHE LIVES AT THE AIRPORT AND WHEN WE WANT HER WE JUST GO GET HER. THEN WHEN WE’RE DONE HAVING HER VISIT, WE TAKE HER BACK TO THE AIRPORT."
.
GRANDPA IS THE SMARTEST MAN ON EARTH! HE TEACHES ME GOOD THINGS BUT I DON’T GET TO SEE HIM ENOUGH TO GET AS SMART AS HIM!

Bizarre Soft Drinks

Pepsi Ice Cucumber
Yes, you read the headline correctly: on 2007, Pepsi released this special Ice Cucumber-flavored drink in Japan. While the bottle clearly describes it as "combination" of cucumber and cola, there just isn’t much cola flavor to it. The drink takes on a somewhat sweet and fruity flavor, but the artificial cucumber flavor is noticeable.

.
NEEDS: made of cheese
Care for a glass of cheese? This new cheese drink comes in 3 different flavors; plain, blueberry, and yuzu citrus. They use a special process to cut down on the sweet taste of the flavored drinks. It is said to have a taste similar to yogurt, but with a cheesy aftertaste.
.
Salad Flavored Water
Released way back in 2004 by Coca-Cola, the Salad Water comes in 6 different flavors.
It tastes like a lite fruit punch
.
Pokka Melon Milk
What's Melon Milk? Well, the ingredient listing on the can says that it's made from melon juice and milk. OK, that plus water, sugar, and some very long chemical names. But yeah, it's basically Japanese melon-flavored milk.

Diet Water
Meet the Diet Water: all the flavor of regular water, only half the calories.

Judge takes 12,000 words to clarify the meaning of tree

A High Court judge, Mr Justice Cranston, has taken 12,000 words to answer the question: What is a tree? The judge thought it necessary to spell out the exact legal definition of a tree because of confusion in the planning process. While trees could obviously be the object of tree preservation orders, the question remained about the status of saplings. For clarity the judge ruled that size did not matter, and that the smallest sapling was, legally speaking, a tree.

Just imagine how many words it would take for the judge to clarify the meaning of himself.

Cat rescued from road pillar

Rescue crews were called in to help a cat caught between 70 and 80 feet in the air.Blake McGee happened to be walking along the street around I-10 near the beltway when he heard a cat crying for help. He looked up and noticed the cat stuck in the small gap on a pillar which supports the overpass. That's about six stories high. McGee called the SPCA, who in turn contacted a company that has a cherry picker with a bucket. Together they were able to coax the cat closer with food and bring the scared animal down.
SPCA investigator Charles Jantzen says it appears the cat fell through an expansion joint on the freeway and landed on the pillar. The cat is being checked out by the SPCA. They say the animal is dehydrated and may have been stuck up there for quite a while. McGee, the person who first spotted the cat, says he will try to adopt the animal.
