Rubik's Cube inventor is back with Rubik's 360

A new game by Professor Erno Rubik, inventor of the iconic Cube, is tipped to become a best-seller when it goes on sale later this year.
The Rubik’s 360 is set to repeat the success of the maddening Cube, which became an overnight sensation almost three decades ago and remains the world’s fastest-selling toy.
Now the reclusive Hungarian inventor hopes to recreate the buzz of Rubik’s Cube with his new game, featuring six balls trapped within three transparent plastic spheres.
The puzzle, shown to the Sunday Telegraph ahead of its unveiling at a toy industry fair in Germany on February 5, confronts users with the same frustrating challenge – a task that is simple to understand, with only one possible solution, yet extremely difficult to execute.
Players must get the colored balls from an inner sphere into matching slots on the outer sphere by shaking them through a middle sphere that has only two holes.

Dog Saves Drowning Kittens

A dog is being called a superhero after he saved four kittens from drowning in a lake. At first, Napoleon's owner was angry when he ran off across a street and into a lake in mid Michigan. Alexandra Breuer thought the bulldog had pulled a bag of rubbish out of the water - but then she heard meows coming from inside.
There were six kittens altogether but sadly two of them died. The other four are doing well thanks to Napoleon.
Alexandra said Napoleon had probably heard the little cats cry out and realised they were in danger. She said her dog is a "champion." "Let me tell you if I wasn't worried about his weight he would get a couple of T-bone steaks right there but he's on a little diet," she added.

Hula Hoop Swivels Into Its 50th Year

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Hula Hoop -- the iconic toy that had more hips swiveling than Elvis Presley did -- turned 50 Thursday.
It may be hard to believe in an age of high-tech gadgetry and video games, but the Hula Hoop used to be the coolest toy around.
The hoopla began 50 years ago when entrepreneurs Richard Knerr and Arthur "Spud" Melin sought a trademark for a thin plastic loop and went on to found a toy company called Wham-O.
They charged $1.98 for the Hula Hoop and sold more than 100 million, which adds up to more than one hoop for every two Americans at the time.
The Hula Hoop became so popular that the former Soviet Union banned the toy as a symbol of the "emptiness of American culture."
Then the fad went flat, and Hula Hoops began gathering dust in garages across the country.
Luckily Wham-O had another toy: a flying disc called a Frisbee.

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Nothing wrong with a good prank, but Rick and Marilyn Jones’ neighbors seem to have too much time on their hands.
When the Joneses, who are known pranksters, left town for a wedding, Tom and Paula Tschudi went for a little payback.
They planted 3,000 white plastic forks in their neighbors’ yard and dangled more from the roof, fence and garage.
"We just wanted to do something funny to them, because every time we leave, they pull some prank on us," said Paula Tschudi, who promised to help pick up the forks.
Over the years, the Joneses have strung beer cans like holiday lights around the Tschudi home, put a for-sale sign in their yard and strung yellow crime-scene tape around chalk outlines of bodies on the sidewalk.
