Clamper van got clamped and towed... priceless!

For many motorists, these pictures of a prolific wheel-clamping firm’s van being clamped for having no road tax will be regarded as poetic justice.
An employee of Southend-based LBS Enforcement, which has demanded substantial payment from hapless motorists across the region, got a taste of their own medicine.
Southend Council spotted the car and swooped. The vehicle was clamped, towed away and impounded.
As it happened, an LBS tow truck arrived on the scene...seemingly just too late to save its own vehicle.

Man’s Toyota truck strikes Toyota dealership

A man who attempted to return his recalled Toyota pickup truck to All Star Toyota crashed into the dealership building when his faulty accelerator stuck, the Baton Rouge Police Department reported.
Mikel Valviva sought to return his truck to the dealership, saying he no longer wanted it because of the recall on the accelerator, Lee said.
Matt McKay, owner of the All Star Automotive Group, said Costanza explained to Valviva on three separate occasions on Saturday that the dealership could not refund his money for the truck.
McKay said the process during the recall requires dealerships to provide a loaner car while the recalled vehicle is repaired.
Valviva refused the offers and tried to leave the dealership, but his gas pedal stuck, Lee said. The truck accelerated forward, striking the building, Lee said.

Chevy Volt to Get 230 MPG Rating

General Motors said Tuesday its Chevrolet Volt electric car could get 230 mpg in city driving, making it the first American vehicle to achieve triple-digit fuel economy if that figure is confirmed by federal regulators.
But when the four-door family sedan hits showrooms late next year, its efficiency will come with a steep sticker price: $40,000.
Still, the Volt's fuel efficiency in the city would be four times more than the popular Toyota Prius hybrid, the most efficient car now sold in the U.S.
Most automakers are working on similar designs, but GM would offer the first mainstream plug-in with the Volt, which seats four and was introduced at the 2007 Detroit auto show.
