“Red-Fleshed” apples

Apples in a vibrant shade of red may soon be in Britain’s shops.
The new variety — so far unnamed — is being grown by Swiss experts seeking a healthier fruit.
Early tests show the strain is high in antioxidants, which help to prevent cell damage.
And they hope to have them in stores within two years, when there is enough supply.
