Heroic dog protects his injured mother

May 14, 2009 - Mother Dog was Hit By Car so Son Dog Protects & Saves Her Life!! This happened in Bronx, NY - Just before 6:30 a.m. a 9-year-old female yellow lab chow mix ran onto the Major Deegan Expressway and was hit by a car at exit 3. That's when another dog, her son, ran to the rescue, right there on the busy highway. The dog wouldn't let anyone near, barking at traffic and police officers, even as they tried to help.

Dogs are known for their loyalty toward their owners, but a dog in New York City took it to another level on Thursday.
Police arrived to tend to an injured dog in the middle of a busy road, but another dog would not allow them near the animal.
The dog was hit by a car during rush hour and suffered a broken leg.
The injured dog's son bravely stayed in the middle of the road and protected his mother by keeping cars away.
Officers were eventually able to retrieve the injured animal and transport her to a vet.
When police got the injured dog into a cruiser, the other dog ran along next the vehicle. Officials say both dogs are okay and belong to the same owner.
