Can I Help?

One summer evening a young son came in while his mother was setting the table for supper.

Quite surprisingly, he asked if he could help.

His mother said,

“No, but I appreciate you asking.”

The child responded,

“Well, I appreciate you saying no.”

Journey Through California Will Take Man 150 Miles To Anaheim
September 6, 2007

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- One man decided to prove his love to a woman Thursday by attempting to cross the mountains between Bakersfield, Calif., and Los Angeles by foot, reported KERO-TV.

The 150-mile journey for Nathan Staker, 21, stemmed from a late-night phone conversation with his girlfriend, Nicole Faltermayer, which turned into a challenge of the heart.

Yet the journey didn't begin at the base of the mountains that are home to the Los Padres National Forest.

Staker began his journey Thursday in Bakersfield by jogging along Highway 119, and then along a frontage road that parallels Freeway 99.

DEEP FRIED PIZZA

Pizza Fritta is a Neapolitan street food that has never quite taken on outside Naples but enjoys a cult-like reverence amongst the locals. The concept is simple - seal the toppings between two layers of pizza dough and deep-fry it until crispy. Eat and watch the calorie counter go through the roof. It is not a Scottish atrocity but a delicious traditional specialty of Napoli, Italy.

Extremely Hungry Kitten

Feeding time at this house looks like a fight-for-your-food-or-die-hungry battle -- with ugly screaming, vicious pulling and all. We understand that the feline must be extremely hungry, but it just has to learn some proper table manners. Otherwise, no supper.
